Past Grand Worthy Advisor 2007 - 2008

Greetings to all!

This year, Connecticut Rainbow is Movin’, Groovin’ and Makin’ Smiles all over the state and for everyone we meet along the way. Our Mascot is the fun loving smile face, Groovygal, who is always ready for some excitement! Groovygal moves and grooves in her favorite colors - lime green, yellow and hot pink, as well as her favorite flower - the daisy.

This year CT Rainbow girls, as well the Grand Officers - lovingly called Groovy Gals - and the Grand Representatives, our Travelin’ Pals (coincidentally this years honor station) are scattering across communities to hold lemonade stands for the charity Alex’s Lemonade Stand. Alex’s Lemonade Stand was started when Connecticut native, Alexandria Scott, who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma when she was only a year old, decided that she was going to help pay for her cancer treatment by holding a lemonade stand. She raised over $1000 dollars with her first stand. Currently, there has been close to $5 million raised to help all children diagnosed with cancer. Unfortunately, Alex was not able to see her goal of $5 million dollars raised before her death in August 2004. This years goal is to raise $10 million for cancer research and Connecticut Rainbow will be helping them – one cup at a time.

Our quote for the year is, "Put a smile on your face, it makes the world a better place," from Hershey’s Chocolate. This year Connecticut Rainbow hopes to put a smile on the faces of many people with our hip and enthusiastic attitudes. CT Rainbow challenges all Rainbow Girls to get movin’ and groovin’ to put a smile on someone’s face!
