Message from Stephanie Watts, 2008 State Miss Service
Hi. My name is Stephanie Watts and I am State Miss Service 2008-2009. I am from Hope Assembly #46 inLitchfield. This year’s service theme is: Herds of Rainbow Girls Unite to CAN Hunger. My charity is the CT Food Bank. Each day the CT Food Bank collects and distributes thousands of pounds of food to needy families throughout CT. CT Food Bank is a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to alleviate hunger. They supply food products and resources to eligible programs throughout CT. Through a combination of local collections organized by each Assembly, a Virtual Food Drive hosted by the CT Food Bank website, and 2 Fill-the-van days, I hope to make a difference for families in need throughout CT. The CT Food Bank was founded in 1982 and is the largest centralized source of donated, emergency food in CT. The main warehouse is located in East Haven, with warehouse branches is Waterbury, Fairfield and other distribution sites. The link to donate to our Virtual Food Drive is http://vad.aidmatrix.org/vadxml.cfm?driveid=2683. During my term as State Miss Service, the girls from each Assembly will be participating in various fun day activities at Masonicare in CT. At these events, I plan on hosting activities such as games and puzzles. These activities will bring a break from the day to day routine for the residents. There will be refreshments and smiles for all. Thank you!
