Hello from all of Connecticut Rainbow as well as the
2010-2011 Tank Gang and Traveling Turtles! This year, with the help of many of
the characters from the movie “Finding Nemo”, we are going to be Finding
Service.
Our colors this year are Nemo Orange, Dory Blue and
Jellyfish Purple.Our honor stations are
Service and Patriotism and our symbol is the star. Our flower is the orchid and
this year’s quote is “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the
service of others” as said by Mahatma Gandhi.
This year we will be raising money and collecting items for
this years’ charity, Operation Purple. The National Military Family
Association's Operation Purple camps are a time for having fun, making friends,
and reminding military kids that they are the Nation's youngest heroes. The
Operation Purple program was created in 2004 to fill a need identified by
military parents to "help us help our kids." The mission of the
Operation Purple program is to empower military children and their families to
develop and maintain healthy and connected relationships, with their moms and
dads who may be serving overseas. They do this through a variety of means,
including a free week of camp for the kids and fun reunion events. The program
is joint or "purple"—encompassing all Service branches, including the
National Guard and Reserve.For more
information about Operation Purple, visit their website at www.militaryfamily.org/our-programs/operation-purple

I’m so very excited about this year and hope to see many of
you in my travels. So grab your goggles and swimsuit, we’re going to be Finding
Service!
