The Headquarters for the International Order of the Rainbow
for Girls, located in McAlester, Oklahoma, is housed in a magnificent building
built for Rainbow girls by Rainbow girls. Here are located the executive offices,
the supply department, auditorium, trophy room, library and reception room.
This beautiful edifice is a monument to a youth organization built on the
principles of Love and Service.
An imposing entrance runs the full three-story height of the building flanked
on either side by half-circle wings composed of glass windows. The official
Rainbow emblem is directly above the entrance. The first floor has a foyer,
library, reception room, a large kitchen, stock room and boiler room. In the
library hangs a beautiful oil painting of Rev. Sexson, which was presented
to him by the Rainbow girls of Texas. Also in the library, Rev. Sexson placed
his own personal library, which contains many rare books. In the foyer there
is a bronze bust of Rev. Sexson, placed on a mahogany stand, a gift from the
girls of all states. On the second floor, the office staff is housed, as well
as the Supply Department. The entire third floor is devoted to a spacious
auditorium, the House of Gold, for use of members of the Supreme Body in their
sessions. Fifty throne seats are installed here and the room has a seating
capacity of 300. All Members of the House of Gold are elected for life.
